Make up air fan systems work to counteract the negative air pressure created by exhaust
systems and other building conditions. Many manufacturing processes generate heat as
a by-product. Make up air systems can make use of this heat, which is normally wasted, to
temper the incoming make-up air.

air system
When the make up air fan is turned on, the damper opens and air is drawn through the
shutters and forced into the tube. The tube is inflated and air is discharged out the
holes at high velocity. This high velocity causes turbulence, which in turn causes the
cool outside air to mix with the stratified heat at the ceilings.
0° F outside air will fill the tube, the high velocity jets will throw and mix with
the stratified heat. When the air has moved 4 feet. from the tube, the air temperature
will be 70° .
