Food Protection
and Flying Insect Control Day
October 29th,
1998
NPCA Pest Management 1998 Convention
Opryland Hotel Convention Center
Nashville, Tennessee, USA
Overview | Program | Presenters | Registration
If an alien visitor,
dripping with Salmonella, E.coli, Campylobacter, Klebsiella and Streptococci, dropped in
on you, would you let it walk around the kitchen unchecked, sampling the food, defecating,
and leaving countless germs behind?

Incredibly, this happens EVERY DAY in food
preparation areas throughout the world!
Flying insects can get into the food chain at any point - from the crop stage or animal
source right to the moment you eat it. This is why flying insects are becoming the focus
of food inspectors and quality assurance managers.
Presentations at the NPCA Pest Management 98 Convention in Nashville will
demonstrate the health risks involved and how you can prepare a control program for all
food facilities. Information will be given about the latest techniques and devices for
controlling flying insects in or around food processing, storage or retail facilities. A
final session will be on Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) in food
situations. It will deal with the theory and practical aspects of a HACCP program in food
processing, storage and retail accounts.
The NPCA Convention hosts the worlds largest exhibition of pest control products
and services, where visitors can discuss with the industry the latest techniques. From the
in-depth educational sessions, to the exhibitors, who are ready to help you with their
latest innovations, Pest Management 98 helps your business hit the right note and
stay in tune with the future. There will be opportunities to network with some of the most
influential pest controllers in the States. |

Our thanks on behalf of the
pest control industry to Killgerm Group, UK for producing and distributing a printed
promotional brochure as a public service to raise awareness of this presentation, as well
as for their permission to substantially reproduce their brochure here on our web site. In addition, Actron is proud to have been instrumental in
arranging a presentation by Mr. Alan Olsen, the Chief Entomologist with the FDA Center for
Food Science and Applied Nutrition. Alan will join the panel of speakers addressing this
very important session. His appearance at Pest Management '98 represents a valuable
opportunity for the pest control community to hear the viewpoint of a high-level
regulatory official closely involved in the formulation of policy on managing the risk of
food-borne illness transmission by pests.
